The Fashion Group International has announced the list of nominees for this year’s Rising Star awards. To keep safe from the spread of coronavirus, the event will be held virtually on December 17. The annual celebration is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. and take an hour from start to finish, including a live awards presentation.
Maryanne Grisz, Fashion Group International’s president and chief executive officer, said that it’s incredibly important now more than ever to acknowledge new talents since they strive to work in an ever-changing marketplace.
In terms of nominees for Womenswear, there are GRP1 Knits’ Peter Kamieniecki, Epperson’s Rodney Epperson, Aknvas’ Christian Juul Nielsen, and namesake designers include Sai Sankoh, Kelsey Randall, Soonil Kwan, and Amir Taghi – all have their own signature collections. In terms of men’s wear award, there are Phit Clothing’s Phillip White, Victor Li, Reese Cooper, and Christopher Lowman.
Competitors who are in the running for the All Gender Product award, which was introduced for the first time in 2019, include Apotts’ Aaron Potts, Cipriani Mia’s Nelissa [sic] Carrillo, Cassandra Elizabeth’s Cassandra Burrell, Venim’s Leslie Fong, Kayee Houchin, and Rinat Brodach.
The Beauty Entrepreneur honor is one of the more crowded categories with many vying for the honor, including Masami’s Lynn Power, Em & El Organics’ Emily Trower-Young, Curl Daddy’s Edwin Pierrot, Pause Well-Aging’s Rochelle Weitzner, Sparti Scents’ Caroline Fabrigas and Abby Wallace, Versed’s Melanie Bender, and Nyakio Beauty’s Nyakio Grieco.
There are five brands that have been nominated for the Accessories, Scarves/Fashion Jewelry category, including Rory Worby Studio’s Rory Worby, Ines x Ciner’s Ines Di Santo, You Go Natural’s Monique Little, Dalfo’s Carolina Dalfo, and Trelawear’s Mara Perlmutter. When it comes to the Accessories, Handbags/Footwear honor, there are four, including Daph.’s Daphne Benzaquen, Mia Becar’s Betzabe Gonzalez, and Area’s Tina Bhojwani, Bentz’s Melissa and Kim Bentz.
Three enterprising companies are running for the New Retail award: Jerrimiah James’ Jerry Buckner, Fashwire’s Kimberley Carney Clear, and for Me’s Sabrina Noorani.

Comments Off on TikTok is teaming with high-end fashion brands to launch its own Fashion Month
TikTok is now launching its own version of Fashion Week, which will run for a whole month.
It has been started out with Louis Vuitton, which teased on Sept. 2 its men’s Spring/Summer 2021 show on the video sharing app. Having ditched Paris Fashion Week this year, Saint Laurent has shared its new fashion film on the social media platform, too.
However, the better news is that they aren’t the only top fashion brands joining #TikTokFashionMonth. It plans to livestream two fashion shows each week, such as S/S 2021 womenswear show of JW Anderson on Sept. 28. It will be wrapped up on Oct. 8 with the virtual fashion show TikTok Runway Odyssey hosted by TikTok creator Nick Tangorra, featuring Puma and Alice & Olivia.
Puma has teamed up with Black TikTok designers for its new collection and will donate US$10,000 from the sales to the Equal Justice Initiative. On the other hand, Alice & Olivia will have TikTok stars such as Melaine and Miranda Wilking, Bria Jones, and Janette Ok modelling its new collection.
In addition to showcasing these collections, the TikTok Runway Odyssey will also let viewers become the first to purchase the new pieces, which will be exclusively available on the app.
It was just shortly after the schedule for Paris Fashion Week was unveiled, #TikTokFashionMonth was announced. The Paris Fashion Week will host both physical and virtual shows while TikTok’s answer to Paris Fashion Week will be entirely virtual. We seem to be used to see everything go online by now with the rise of digital clothing, FaceTime photoshoots, and fashion shows on video games.
Tiktok’s first partnership with a luxury fashion brand was marked when Balmain livestreamed Paris Digital Couture Week’s fashion show on it.
Celine also featured some TikTok stars in the video teasers about its S/S 2021 menswear show, including Chase Hudson and Noen Eubanks. Meanwhile, Gucci is casting models for its upcoming project via the #GucciModelChallenge that has been started by TikTok users.

The pandemic is currently causing major changes in the year’s fashion week
This September, Milan’s Fashion Week will combine men and women’s collections for the first time, with the men’s shows planned for June now postponed due to the virus.
On Friday, The National Chamber of Italian Fashion Camera Nazionale Della Moda announced the change and confirmed that the men’s shows, which were scheduled to run on June 19-23, will now run alongside the women’s shows, which were planned on September 22-28. The decision was made with the aim of preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
In a statement, the organization also outlined
possible changes for showcasing the men’s designers in June.
It read: “We are however working on new digital formats and new ways of encounter, in order to create new storytelling on the days originally scheduled for the Milan Men’s Fashion Week: b2b and b2c platforms for the benefit of brands, luxury companies, and all the other players in the fashion industry.
“We are aware that great efforts will be made in
order to have the new collections ready by June to start an innovative selling
The news comes when French fashion’s governing body Fédération
de la Haute Couture et de la Mode also cancel its upcoming couture shows and men’s
shows, planned for 5th to 9th July and 23rd to 28th June, respectively.
The Fédération wrote in a statement, “In light of
the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic worldwide, strong decisions are required to
ensure the safety and health of houses, their employees, and everyone working
in our industry,”.
In the same way, the British Fashion Council has postponed the men’s shows planned for June, saying that it was finding new ways to digitalize their fashion showcase platforms while the Council for Fashion Designers of America also canceled the upcoming resort 2021 shows.

Monogram motifs by Louis Vuitton
Surprisingly enough: Louis Vuitton Monogram motif isn’t the oldest motif! But it is the most recognizable pattern.
This pattern was born in 1896, by Georges Vuitton – son of Louis Vuitton. It combines stylized symbols from flowers and two LV letters, short for Louis Vuitton. You may not know, this Louis Vuitton pattern is inspired by Japanese and Asian art that was very popular in the late Victorian period.
